The James Joyce Tower is a Martello tower, which was erected to resist the Napoleon’s attack. There is James Joyce museum in it at present. The author of the famous Ulysses chose this tower as scenery for the beginning of his book.
The tower is situated 8 miles away from Dublin in the southern direction. This is an ideal place to devote it to this talented writer, well-known all over the world. In spite of being honored in every corner of the world, James Joyce is a writer of Dublin and this image is clearly revealed in his works.
The writer spent some time in the tower and it encouraged him to create the grand novel Ulysses. Some places were depicted in the book, for instance, the gun platform from which one can enjoy panoramic outlook, and the room in the tower.
The collection of the museum contains pictures, letters, things, which used to belong to Joyce as well as objects associated with the novel.
