The National Gallery of Ireland is one of Dublin's most important museums. Built in the mid-1800's in honour of businessman and philanthropist William Dargan, the gallery houses the national collection of Irish and European fine art.
The exquisite collection of the gallery includes all the major Continental Schools. Here you will find masterpieces by such artists as Rembrandt, Fra Angelico, Valázquez, Vermeer, Murillo, Hogarth, Reynolds, Turner, Gainsborough, Titian, Caravaggio, Brueghel, Van Dyck, El Greco and Picasso. Works by Osborne, O'Conor, Maclise, Hone, Orpen, Jack B Yeats represent the Irish School.
Admission to the collection is free.
